Domaine Yui A2 Pinot Noir 2024

Domaine Yui was founded in 2019 by Tetsuya and Aya Sugiyama, who met at Hokkaido University; Tetsuya studied and worked in architecture, Aya studied physics. Their winery in the Nobori district of Yoichi is a renovated warehouse, and the vineyards are farmed organically, without herbicides, chemical pesticides or chemical fertiliser. The name "Yui" means to connect.

A2 comes from the second section of the domaine's Farm A in Nobori, planted with Dijon clones 667, 777, 114 and 115 of Pinot Noir. The 2024 was made with 15% whole clusters and aged 12 months in barrel; the label describes a delicate colour with aromas of violet and mushroom. The 2024 growing season (April to October) at Farm A saw about 1,202 hours of sunshine, 698 mm of rain and around 1,480 °C of growing degree days; 2,860 bottles were made.
