Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Acclivi 2021 750ml
The "Super Verduno" from a Cult Legend. Comm. G.B. Burlotto is arguably the most sought-after producer in Piedmont today. Known for their ethereal, Burgundy-like expression of Nebbiolo, their wines have achieved mythical status among collectors.
The Label: "Acclivi" (The Steep Slopes) While Monvigliero is their single-vineyard icon, "Acclivi" is the insider's secret. It is a special cuvée crafted from a blend of the estate's best old-vine plots in Verduno (including fruit from Monvigliero, Neirane, and Rocche dell'Olmo). It is only produced in excellent vintages from the sunniest, steepest slopes.
The Vintage: 2021 (A Modern Classic) 2021 is widely hailed as a benchmark vintage for Barolo, comparable to the legendary 2016. It combines power, structure, and extreme elegance.
Tasting Notes
-
The Nose: A mesmerizing perfume of wild roses, crushed strawberries, blood orange, and the signature Verduno note of white pepper/spices.
-
The Palate: Silky, tense, and vibrant. It defies the heaviness of traditional Barolo, offering a weightless intensity with fine-grained tannins and a savory, mineral finish.
-
The Verdict: An intellectual wine that captures the very soul of Verduno.
