Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) | Richebourg Grand Cru 2022 750ml
The Prince of Vosne-Romanée. Power and Majesty. In the constellation of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Richebourg stands as the symbol of power and longevity. Often described as having "the shoulders of a king," it is a wine of immense structure and depth, second only to Romanée-Conti and La Tâche in terms of prestige.
The Terroir: The Definition of Richebourg DRC is the largest owner of this legendary Grand Cru, holding nearly half of the appellation. Consequently, the Domaine’s bottling is the benchmark by which all other Richebourgs are judged. Situated adjacent to Romanée-Conti and La Romanée, it shares their noble DNA but expresses it with greater muscle, density, and distinct notes of dark earth and truffles.
The Vintage: 2022 A spectacular, solar vintage. The 2022 growing season provided the perfect conditions to tame the natural ferocity of Richebourg. The wine is opulent and fleshy, with the vintage's ripe fruit wrapping seamlessly around the vineyard's firm tannic spine.
The New Era This vintage features the signatures of co-directors Perrine Fenal and Bertrand de Villaine, marking a significant chapter in the history of the Domaine.
Tasting Profile
-
The Nose: Profound and brooding. Layers of black cherries, violets, smoked game, and Asian spices (clove, sandalwood) unfold slowly in the glass.
-
The Palate: Massive yet refined. It is characterized by its "velvet paws"—a texture that is rich and coating, hiding a core of iron-like strength. The finish is endless, dominated by savory minerality.
-
The Verdict: A monumental wine built for the ages.
