A Piece of Burgundy History. Before the meteoric rise of Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, there was Domaine Robert Arnoux. This bottle is a rare artifact from the era of Robert Arnoux and Pascal Lachaux, representing the classic foundation of one of Vosne-Romanée's greatest dynasties.

The Terroir: Romanée-Saint-Vivant (Grand Cru) Romanée-Saint-Vivant is the epitome of elegance. Located just steps from Romanée-Conti, this Grand Cru is famed for its soaring aromatics and lace-like texture. Arnoux’s plot (0.35 ha) is known for producing wines of incredible finesse.

The Vintage: 1994 (Fully Mature) At 30 years old, this wine offers a rare experience: Grand Cru Burgundy at its peak of maturity. While 1994 was a challenging vintage, top producers like Arnoux crafted wines that have aged gracefully. This is not a wine of power, but of subtlety and tertiary complexity.

Tasting Profile

  • The Nose: A profound bouquet of tertiary aromas—forest floor (sous-bois), black truffles, faded roses, sandalwood, and sweet leather.

  • The Palate: Ethereal and delicate. The fruit has evolved into savory notes of dried fig and tea leaves. The tannins have completely melted away, leaving a silky, mineral finish.

  • The Experience: A fragile, hauntingly beautiful wine that whispers the story of a bygone era.

Why It’s Special

  • 🏛️ Historic Label: Produced under the original "Robert Arnoux" label, now extremely rare since the domaine's rebranding to Arnoux-Lachaux.

  • 💎 Grand Cru Pedigree: One of the most prestigious vineyards in the world.

  • 🍂 Perfect Drinking Window: No waiting required. This wine offers the complex flavors that only three decades of aging can provide.

Serving Guide (Crucial for Old Wines)

  • Handling: Stand the bottle upright for at least 24 hours before opening to let the sediment settle.

  • Decanting: Do NOT decant. The wine is delicate; exposure to too much air may cause it to fade quickly. Pour gently directly into the glass.

  • Glassware: Zalto or Riedel Burgundy Grand Cru glass.

  • Temperature: Serve at 16-17°C.
