Domaine Coche-Dury, in Meursault, is the most talked-about white-wine estate in modern Burgundy. Under Jean-François Coche and now his son Raphaël, the domaine has held to its own path — long lees ageing, a distinctive reductive, flinty signature, and a refusal to expand production — and its wines have become among the rarest and most coveted whites in the world.

Les Perrières is the greatest of Meursault's premiers crus, a stony, limestone-rich vineyard that gives the appellation's most mineral and long-lived wines, and at Coche-Dury it stands second only to the Corton-Charlemagne. 2016 was a frost-struck, tiny-yield vintage in Meursault that produced concentrated, tightly wound whites — smoke and struck flint, white flowers, citrus and crushed stone, with the tension to age for decades. This bottle carries the cellar strip of Maison Troisgros, the three-star restaurant in Roanne, on its label.
