Beau Paysage Tsugane Le Feu 2003

Beau Paysage is the domaine of Eishi Okamoto in Tsugane, Hokuto, Yamanashi, at about 800 metres. Okamoto settled here in 1999 and planted Merlot first; the vines are farmed without ploughing, herbicides or fertilisers. Production is tiny, and every label carries the line "A glass of wine can change the world."

Le Feu is the domaine's red from Bordeaux varieties; recent vintages are a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This 2003 comes from the domaine's earliest years, made by Okamoto before he had his own licensed winery building.
