Charles Lachaux Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Valozieres 2024 750ml
Charles Lachaux — sixth generation of Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux in Vosne-Romanée, at the helm since 2015 — bottles this cuvée under his own micro-négociant label. Where Burgundy convention stops summer shoots at 1.1 metres, he lets them run past two and folds them over: smaller berries, thicker skins, gentler extraction. In the cellar the work is a list of things not done — whole bunches, ambient yeasts, two punch-downs in total, twelve months in used barrels, no fining, no filtration.
The parcel: 0.65 hectares on the northern flank of Les Valozières, directly beneath grand cru Corton Bressandes, east-facing, vines planted in the 1940s, certified organic for more than twenty years.
Vintage 2024, Pinot Noir, 750ml, sealed in pale-pink wax. Six bottles, from a single July allocation.
