William Kelley Bourgogne Aligote 2022 750ml
William Kelley – Pommard, France
The Deputy Editor of The Wine Advocate — the most influential Burgundy critic of his generation — makes wine in an unmarked cellar in the heart of Pommard, the former home of Domaine Mussy. Labels are glued by hand, each neck dipped in wax. Barely more than a barrel of each cuvée is made, and much of it stays at his own table.
The Bourgogne Aligoté comes from eighty-year-old vines in Meursault. His white winemaking draws on lessons from Jean-Marie Guffens and Jean-François Coche — concentrated, incisive, gently reductive. On CellarTracker the 2022 carries a CT94.5 average across nearly a hundred reviews: an Aligoté scored like a grand cru.
