Domaine Nakajima

Crafted in Tōmi City, Nagano—one of Japan’s pioneering wine special zones—this Petillant Naturel Rosé is made from locally grown Kyoho grapes and fermented with native wild yeast. Domaine Nakajima was founded in 2014 by Yutaka Nakajima, who left corporate life to pursue winemaking rooted in minimal intervention and natural practices.

The vineyard is chemical-free, relying on manual pest control and minimal organic treatments. Its harmony with nature is evidenced by wild birds nesting among the vines, including one that inspired the wine’s label—an original drawing by Nakajima’s sister depicting a newly hatched chick and grapes.

Grapes are foot-crushed by family members using traditional methods, allowing precise control over the process. Farming is done with extreme care—grass is trimmed just enough to encourage air circulation and natural composting, reducing the need for artificial inputs.

With just 1.5 hectares of estate vines, Domaine Nakajima produces limited quantities, aiming for quality and sustainability. The winemaker’s philosophy is simple: create wines for people who truly enjoy them, and only as much as needed to live well.
