Domaine Yui, located in Yoichi Town, Hokkaido, was established in 2019. The name "Yui" is derived from the Japanese word for "knot" or "tie," symbolizing the spirit of people coming together to collaborate in agriculture. Founders Tetsuya and Aya Sugiyama left their careers in Tokyo to pursue winemaking, settling in Yoichi to cultivate grapes. The region's ample sunlight, significant diurnal temperature variation, and excellent air circulation make it ideal for fruit cultivation. Leveraging these conditions, the Sugiyamas practice organic viticulture without pesticides or fertilizers. In the cellar, they avoid using antioxidants and artificial additives, reflecting their commitment to natural winemaking and quality.​

A distinctive feature of Domaine Yui is their use of Labrusca grape varieties from vines averaging over 30 years old, including Campbell Early, Niagara, Delaware, and Portland. Their goal is to craft elegant wines that minimize the characteristic "foxy" aroma of Labrusca grapes, emphasizing depth and complexity instead. As a husband-and-wife team, their production is limited, but each bottle embodies their dedication and passion, offering a unique tasting experience.
